After a general introduction, half of the remaining space is devoted to each university city. In the tradition of Blue Guides, it offers more cultural information than most guidebooks, and combines this with practical issues that might face the tourist. It does not have pretty pictures in it, so will not double well as a souvenir of Cambridge.
For my purposes as the author of this website I found the cultural information a bit superficial, but then I guess I was not part of the target audience. As a Cambridge resident, there is very little that I would argue with in the practical information section for Cambridge,
Mercia Mason's original text of an earlier edition has been carefully edited. This, together with an improved visual design, has resulted in a significantly more readable book. If you have a copy of one of the first 3 editions, I would recommend "upgrading" if you plan to revisit Cambridge.
