Christ's College Gatehouse

Built at the the time of the College's foundation it was the showpiece of Lady Margaret's time. It is still eye-catching in St Andrew's Street when the bright colours are picked out by direct sunlight.

It is very similar to St John's Gatehouse, Lady Margaret's parallel foundation. Both have a large and richly decorated coat of arms over a four-centred arch and ogee canopy.

The door, with its linen-fold panelling, and the beams of the ceiling inside, are orginal.
