1505 Christ's College founded

God's House was refounded as Christ's College in 1505 by Lady Margaret Beaufort, the mother of Henry VII. This foundation seemed to be at the prompting of John Fisher, Lady Margaret's confessor, who was made Chancellor of the University in the previous year. Lady Margaret was also a friend of John Syclyng, the last Proctor of God's House.

The refoundation turned a modestly sized college into the largest in Cambridge, with a master, 12 fellows and 47 pupil-scholars. Half the fellows, and nearly half the scholars were to come from North England, and provision was made for the study of the classical authors.
