1337 King's Hall refounded

Originally founded 20 years ago, King's Hall was refounded by Edward III on a much grander scale, with a house, Master and 32 fellows.

On appointment the fellows were undergraduates, but as their fellowship was tenable for life a mix of graduates and undergraduates developed.

The house and land for the new foundation had been bought a year earlier from Robert de Croyland. The house no longer exists, but it is thought to have been situated where Trinity Great Court now lies, just West of the Great Gate.

King's Hall dominated the lay population of the University, especially the faculty of civil law, up to the end of the 15th century.

It was later incorporated into Trinity College.
